Use:

  • Designed for young adventurers, these pants are ideal for hiking and exploring in nature, providing protection against the elements and comfort throughout the activity.
  • Thanks to their waterproof and breathable construction with Omni-Tech™ technology, they are perfect for outdoor activities where rain or humidity is a possibility, keeping boys and girls dry, cool, and comfortable.
  • The Columbia brand has manufactured these pants considering the need for a technical, durable, and flexible garment that allows young people to move with total freedom and enjoy their adventures without worrying about inclement weather.
  • Their unisex design makes them versatile for any young explorer, offering a practical and functional solution for protection against bad weather in various activities such as school trips, camps, or outdoor games.

Features:

  • Omni-Tech™ technology with fully sealed seams: Offers superior waterproof and breathable protection, preventing external moisture (rain, snow) from penetrating through the fabric and seams, while allowing body vapor to escape to keep the user dry and comfortable inside.
  • Elastic waistband: Provides a secure and comfortable fit that easily adapts to the growth and movement of young people, making them easy to put on and ensuring the pants stay in place during activity.
  • Adjustable cuffs: Allow for a versatile fit at the bottom of the legs using an adjustment system, which helps prevent water, mud, or cold from entering, and facilitates adaptation over different types of footwear, such as hiking boots.
  • Breathable construction: Complementing the waterproofing, the fabric helps regulate body temperature by allowing excess heat and moisture generated by the body to escape, which increases comfort during movement and prolonged activities.

Materials:

  • Exterior (Shell): Omni-Tech™ Plain Weave 2L 100% polyester fabric. This 2-layer material is specifically designed by Columbia to offer a robust, waterproof, and windproof barrier, while also facilitating breathability. Its polyester composition ensures excellent durability, abrasion resistance, and relatively quick drying, essential qualities for active and frequent use by young people in demanding environments.
  • Lining: 100% nylon 210T taffeta. This type of nylon lining is valued for being lightweight, soft to the touch, and durable. It contributes to the overall comfort of the pants, facilitates sliding over other layers of clothing (such as thermal leggings), and helps protect the inner waterproof membrane. 210T taffeta is known for its good tear resistance and durability.

Eco-certifications and Brand Sustainability Practices:

  • bluesign® System Partner: Columbia collaborates with the bluesign® system to promote sustainable textile manufacturing, aiming to reduce environmental impact throughout the supply chain. This includes responsible chemical management, efficient use of resources like water and energy, and consumer and worker safety, contributing to safer products with a smaller ecological footprint.
  • Restricted Substances List (RSL): The brand adheres to a Restricted Substances List to control and limit the use of potentially harmful chemicals in the manufacturing of its products. This practice protects consumers, supply chain workers, and the environment.
  • Standards of Manufacturing Practices (SMP): Columbia implements its own Standards of Manufacturing Practices to ensure fair, safe, and ethical working conditions in its suppliers' factories, as well as responsible production processes.
  • Use of the Higg Index (Facility Environmental Module - FEM): The brand uses the FEM module of the Higg Index, a tool from the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, to assess and improve the environmental performance of its manufacturing facilities and those of its suppliers, focusing on areas such as energy and water use, greenhouse gas emissions, and waste management.
  • Social & Labor Converged Assessment Framework (SLCP): Columbia participates in the SLCP, an initiative that seeks to reduce the duplication of social and labor audits through a converged assessment framework, promoting transparency and continuous improvement of working conditions in the global supply chain.
  • The brand is also part of industry initiatives and groups such as the AFIRM Group for advanced management of restricted chemical substances in products, and supports programs like RISE (formerly HERproject) focused on empowering female workers in global supply chains. Additionally, Columbia is a member of the Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) Climate Action Corps and participates in the Clean by Design program by the Apparel Impact Institute (Aii) to drive climate action and resource efficiency in the textile and footwear industry.

  • Additionally, the brand supports environmental conservation and access to drinking water projects through its participation and partnerships with organizations such as the European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA), Planet Water Foundation, National Park Foundation (USA), Conservation International, Captains For Clean Water, Ocean Conservancy, and UK National Parks, reflecting a broader commitment to protecting the planet and promoting responsible enjoyment of outdoor activities.
